Where You’ll See Instructions
-
Booking Portal: step-by-step tips appear during checkout.
-
On-Kiosk Signage: quick reference at eye level.
-
Mandatory How-To Video: a short video plays at checkout; acknowledge to receive your access code.
1) Booking & Access
-
Reserve ahead on our website or scan the on-site QR.
-
Choose kayak or SUP, rental duration, and start time.
-
A few minutes before your start, you’ll get a texted unlock code.
-
Enter the code to open your locker (kiosk) or bay (rack) and collect your gear.
2) What’s Included
-
Kayak or SUP (rigid or packable, depending on location)
-
USCG-approved PFD (life jacket) in multiple sizes and whistle
-
Adjustable paddle (and leash for SUP)
-
Pump (manual or electric) for packable units
-
Quick-start instruction card and return checklist
3) Grab-and-Go vs. Inflate-and-Go
Full-Size Racks (Rigid Kayaks & SUPs)
-
Unlock bay → Remove craft, paddle, PFD (and leash for SUP).
-
Fit your PFD, adjust paddle height (elbow at ~90°).
-
Walk to the designated launch area and go.
Retail Kiosks (Packable iKayaks & iSUPs)
-
Unlock locker → Remove craft, paddle, PFD, pump, leash (for SUP).
-
Inflate to the PSI shown on the board/boat valve (connect hose, pump until gauge matches target).
-
Fit your PFD, attach SUP leash to your ankle/calf, adjust paddle height.
-
Walk to the designated launch area and go.
-
Tip: Stow the deflation cap and small parts in the locker bin so nothing’s lost.
4) Launch Basics
-
Kayak: set the boat half-in/half-out of the water, sit, then push off. Keep knees relaxed and strokes even.
-
SUP: start on your knees for stability; when ready, stand with feet shoulder-width apart near the handle.
-
Paddle fit: top hand at shoulder height; adjust so blade fully submerges without overreaching.
-
Leash (SUP): always attach before launch (away from boat traffic/entanglement hazards).
5) On-Water Tips (Quick Reference)
-
Look where you want to go; keep strokes smooth and light.
-
Turn: short, quick strokes on one side; sweep strokes for wider turns.
-
Rest: sit (SUP) or soft-paddle (kayak) near the shoreline if you need a break.
-
Wind & drift: start by paddling into the wind or upstream so you return with it.
6) Returning Your Gear
-
Return to the same location and open your locker/bay.
-
Rigid gear: rinse (if station available), stow paddle/PFD, secure craft.
-
Packable gear: rinse, dry and deflate fully, roll from the nose to the tail to push air out, and pack per the diagram.
-
Place all items back in the locker (pump, leash, PFD, paddle).
-
Close out on your phone (you’ll see a prompt). Ensure the padlock clicks/locks.
7) Troubleshooting & Support (24/7)
-
Can’t unlock? Re-enter the code slowly; check that your start time has begun.
-
Pump not building pressure (packables)? Check valve position (inflate vs. deflate) and hose connection.
-
Wobble on SUP? Lower stance, widen feet, keep eyes forward.
-
Need help or to extend time? Reply to your confirmation text or tap Support in the booking portal.
8) Accessibility & Ease-of-Use
-
Kiosks are placed with clear approaches and reachable controls; the mobile flow supports assistive tech.
-
Request alternate PFD sizes in your booking notes or via Support before start time.
Quick Reminders
-
Wear your PFD (included).
-
Follow the mandatory how-to video at checkout—it’s short and ensures a smoother start.
-
Keep an eye on conditions; if it’s not comfortable, message Support to adjust your booking.
You’ll find the same core instructions in the booking portal, on the kiosk signage, and in the checkout video so you’re never guessing—just scan, set up, and get on the water.
